Starting child care
Responding to an offer
To accept an offer of child care from us, you must pay a non-refundable deposit of 4 weeks of child care fees and provide your child's Immunisation History Statement.
Immunisation history statements
The State Government requires all children to be fully immunised for their age at the time of enrolment in child care.
Immunisation History Statements can be downloaded from Medicare.
Orientation
In accordance with our centre philosophy, it is important that families and children feel welcome and begin to develop a sense of belonging to our community during the orientation process.
We recognise and value the role of parents, guardians and family members in children’s orientation to child care and we recognise the importance of promoting secure attachments between children and educators.
We encourage children to develop a secure relationship with a primary carer at the centre where possible and we implement strategies for specific staff to spend time with your child in order to build secure relationships.
We understand that each child and family is unique and that it may take varying amounts of time and communication for each child and family to feel comfortable at the centre.
Where possible, we encourage both children and families to spend time playing, exploring, meeting educators and becoming familiar with the environment, before children are left at the centre for the first time.
Cultural support when starting child care
Our centre is wonderfully multicultural and support is available for children from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
Cultural support provides specific language and cultural assistance to help enrol and settle children and families who do not yet share a language with their educators.
Cultural support enhances children’s learning and wellbeing, values identity, and supports children and families from CALD backgrounds to develop a sense of belonging within children’s services.
Please contact us if you feel your child would benefit from cultural support.
Inclusion support
The Inclusion Support Program allows us to welcome children with additional needs and ongoing high support needs to our centre.
Children eligible for inclusion support might have:
-
culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds
-
a refugee or humanitarian intervention background
-
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds
-
ongoing high support needs including children with a disability or undergoing continuing assessment for disability.
Please contact us if you think your child may benefit from inclusion support. We offer priority enrolment to children with additional needs.
